Interview Tips
Interviews can often be traumatic for both the interviewee and interviewer. Preparation beforehand is so important so that you will be able to overcome the many hurdles an interview can place your way!
- At the interview show the interviewer how positive you feel about yourself, your abilities and the role in question
- Always research the company, ask questions about the company from the relevant recruitment consultant and thoroughly read the company's website prior to attending the interview. Tell the person that is interviewing you that you have read their website this will show that you have completed the research.
- Make sure that you understand the role that you are interested in - again asking any questions to the recruitment consultant that has organised the interview for you.
- Prepare some general questions about the company and the role so that you can ask these questions at the interview.
- First impressions count - Dress in business attire (even if the company's policy is casual dress).
- Allow yourself enough time to travel to the interview - remember there could be traffic delays! If necessary, complete the travel a couple of days prior to the interview so that you know exactly how to get there and where to go.
- Prepare some answers to questions that you think that they might ask you at interview such as:
Why do you feel that you are suitable for this role? Why are you interested in this particular role? Why do you want to work for this company? What do you know about the company?
- The interview should flow and your answers to the questions asked should be in-depth, giving examples of what you have done with your current/previous employers.
